🌟"This week, we are thrilled to shine a spotlight on our incredible English Language Arts Department! Our ELAR team is dedicated to nurturing a passion for reading, writing, and critical thinking in every student. From exploring literature to mastering modern communication skills, our department inspires creativity and encourages lifelong learning.
Whether it’s guiding students through thought-provoking discussions, fostering analytical skills, or helping them find their unique voice through writing, our English Language Arts educators go above and beyond to make every lesson meaningful.
Junior Julian L. loves that Mrs. Vasquez explains all her lessons and breaks it down for them so that they can understand the reading. He also wanted to share that she is sweet, caring and easy to talk to and appreciates her being open to her students opinions.
Freshman Mariah H. loves that Mrs. Cordova is very animated when she reads to the class and that holds her attention and makes her want to learn and read more!
Junior Saharah G. loves that Miss Medrano is a patient teacher and shared how she appreciated Miss Medrano greeting everyone at the door.
Sophomore Mallory B. loves that Mr. Mendez is an easy going teacher and appreciates his patience with all his students.
Senior Jeslynn J. & Junior Gezlynn W. love that Mrs. B (as called by her students) has structure in her class and grabs their attention in every lesson. They also shared that they appreciate the guidance and support in becoming better writers.
Junior Shalynn V. loves that Mr. Cochran tries very hard to make learning fun and that he is a teacher who you can definitely talk to about anything.

The safety of our students and staff is our top priority! The district has taken several steps to ensure our schools are a safe learning environment. PISD requires clear or mesh backpacks for all students.

The Senior Class of 2025 is currently faced with a surplus of poinsettias from their recent fundraising efforts. In light of our limited storage capabilities, it is imperative that we facilitate the swift sale of these items. Interested individuals are welcome to visit PHS, where they can confer with a Senior Class Sponsor. The price per poinsettia has been reduced to $10. We are seeking to sell the remaining 110 poinsettias. The deadline for completion of sales is 4:30pm.
